What FluentLab is

A free English practice site. You may use it without an account. An account exists only so that your progress follows you between devices.

What we do not promise

The level estimate is an estimate. It is produced by an algorithm from a few minutes of answers, and it is not an official language certificate, nor equivalent to one, nor a prediction of any exam result. Do not present it as one.

We try hard to make every item correct, and every explanation is written by hand rather than generated at the moment you read it. Even so, natural language is not a settled thing and mistakes get through. If you find one, tell us and we will fix it.

Acceptable use

Do not attempt to break, overload or work around the site’s limits; do not scrape the item bank wholesale; do not use the site to distribute anything unlawful. We may end access for accounts that do these things.

Your account

Keep your password to yourself. Tell us if you think somebody else has it. You can delete your account at any moment from the account page, and deletion removes your answers with it.

The content

Every sentence, explanation and word list on this site was written for it, and it remains ours. You are welcome to use the exercises to learn and to teach a class. You are not welcome to republish the bank as your own product.

Changes and endings

The site is offered as it is, free of charge, and may change or stop. If it is going to stop, we will say so in time for you to export your data.
